A New VR Puzzle Adventure Launches
Indie developer Reality Syndrome Symphony has released its first title, Amelia’s Escape, now available on Meta Quest and PC VR via Steam. Created over several years by solo developer Rupert Lawrence, the game delivers a VR-focused escape room experience combined with a narrative-driven approach.
Story: A Teenager’s Fight for Freedom
The game follows Amelia, a typical teenager who enjoys photography and roller skating. Her ordinary life is abruptly disrupted when she is kidnapped by Ron, a scientist obsessed with time travel. As players take on Amelia’s role, they must navigate her confinement while uncovering the motives behind her abduction.
As the story unfolds, players learn more about Ron’s past, revealing a deeper and more complex narrative than initially expected.

Gameplay: Exploration and Puzzle Solving
Amelia’s Escape centers around interactive puzzle-solving within detailed environments. Each area contains multiple objects and clues that players must examine to progress.
- Objectives are visible early, but require creative thinking to reach
- Puzzles can be solved in a non-linear order
- Environmental interaction plays a key role in uncovering solutions
This structure encourages exploration and rewards attention to detail.
Immersive VR Design
The game is built specifically for VR, with environments designed to enhance immersion. Every space is filled with small details that contribute both to gameplay and storytelling, making the world feel more believable and engaging.

A Personal Project from a Solo Developer
For creator Rupert Lawrence, the release of Amelia’s Escape represents the realization of a lifelong goal. The project reflects a strong emphasis on handcrafted design and human creativity, aligning with the studio’s vision to prioritize artistic expression in game development.
