Cohen, this interactive narrative has been recognized at prestigious festivals such as Venice, Annecy, and SXSW, and is a finalist in the Emmy Awards for Outstanding Emerging Media.
“EMPEROR” offers a 40-minute immersive journey into the mind of a man afflicted with aphasia, inspired by co-creator Marion Burger’s personal experiences with her father. This VR experience is not a documentary but a poetic exploration of the emotional and cognitive challenges faced by individuals with aphasia. It features narration by Olivia Cooke for the English version and Vimala Pons for the French version, with original music by Jamie Turner and Gaspar Claus.
Produced by ATLAS V and co-produced by Reynard Films and France Télévisions’ Francetv StoryLab, “EMPEROR” represents a unique blend of film and video game storytelling. The project received financial backing from several organizations, including CNC and Creative Europe MEDIA.

Marion Burger: A graduate in textile design, Burger has worked as a set designer in cinema, with credits including “Divines” and “Gagarine.” “EMPEROR” marks her debut as a director.
