Bootstrap Island Brings Finger Tracking and Foveated Streaming Support to Steam Frame

Martin Rumenov 1 month ago 0 27

Bootstrap Island has confirmed support for Steam Frame’s PC VR feature set, allowing players to experience its survival adventure with finger tracking, wireless streaming, and foveated streaming.

Developed as a high-end PC VR experience rather than a game built around standalone headsets, Bootstrap Island is positioning itself as a strong showcase title for Steam Frame. The realistic survival game takes inspiration from Daniel Defoe’s Robinson Crusoe, placing players in an isolated and hostile environment where survival depends on practical, hands-on interactions.

A VR Survival Game Built for Immersion

Bootstrap Island focuses heavily on realistic visuals, physics-driven gameplay, and natural interaction systems. Players must explore, gather resources, build tools, and adapt to the dangers of being stranded, with the game aiming to make every action feel tactile and believable in virtual reality.

Its newly confirmed Steam Frame support expands that approach further. Finger tracking can make interactions feel more natural by allowing players to use hand and finger movements without relying entirely on traditional controller inputs. Wireless streaming, meanwhile, gives PC VR users more freedom to move, while foveated streaming can help improve performance by concentrating visual detail where the player is looking.
