CROSSINGS Brings Norse VR Soulslike Action – And Seamless Co‑op – To SteamVR

CROSSINGS, a Norse‑inspired first‑person VR soulslike from indie studio Neat Corp and VR label Creature, is now available on SteamVR after its earlier debut on Meta Quest 3 and 3S. The SteamVR version launches with visual upgrades including volumetric fog, dynamic shadows, and improved lighting and detail meshes to better showcase its haunting Nordic afterlife.

Alongside the SteamVR release, the latest multiplayer update arrives on PC, matching the co‑op functionality already live on Meta Quest 3/3S. Players can run into other lost souls organically in the same shifting world and communicate purely through body language and gestures, or use a Runestone near the hub area to deliberately connect with a friend for two‑player co‑op runs.

Built as a roguelike action‑adventure, CROSSINGS puts emphasis on physical combat driven by VR motion and timing. You wield blades, clubs, axes, and the Bow of Nör while blocking, dodging, and counterattacking Trolls, Draugr, ghosts, and other creatures drawn from Norse folklore, all animated with hand‑crafted motions and behavioural variations. A gesture‑based spellcasting system lets you unleash powerful magic, while altar‑born powers and weapon upgrades allow you to refine your fighting style on each run.

Exploration is structured around runs through procedurally shifting environments that remix forests, ruins, caves, and mist‑shrouded mythic realms every time you enter. Each death sends you back to start anew, but you carry forward experience and knowledge, gradually uncovering hidden stories and piecing together the fragmented memory of a lost village. The ambient co‑op layer means that even solo players may unexpectedly cross paths with other travellers, adding a subtle social element to an otherwise lonely journey through the afterlife.

Neat Corp, the Stockholm‑based VR studio behind stealth classic Budget Cuts and the tranquil Garden of the Sea, leads development on CROSSINGS with a small team of about a dozen developers and artists. Publishing duties fall to Creature, a VR‑focused label founded in 2023 that has worked on projects like THRASHER, Maestro, Laser Dance, Cubism, Budget Cuts and The Light Brigade while also providing business development support to independent studios.
