The creators of Operation Warcade, 1976 – Back to Midway, and Motion Soccer are back. Barcelona-based developer Ivanovich Games will unleash their new VR title, Echo Wars: Road Rage, on August 21 for Steam and Meta Quest, promising an over-the-top mix of driving, shooting, and pure arcade destruction.
Instant Action, Zero Downtime
Unlike traditional shooters, Echo Wars throws players straight into the battlefield: one hand grips the wheel while the other never stops firing. According to studio CEO Ivan Cascales, this is the VR arcade experience they always dreamed of creating: fast, chaotic, and impossible to put down.
Within ten seconds of play, players are already spinning the environment into dust and wreckage.
Built for Comfort – Even in Total Chaos
Motion sickness is usually the kryptonite of VR racing-shooters, but Ivanovich Games developed its own anti-rotation technology, designed to let even the queasiest players handle breakneck speed without nausea.
This feature, tested across multiple projects, keeps all the insanity in the game while your stomach stays steady.
Weekly Content and Growing Challenges
When Early Access launches on Steam, players will find:
- 8 levels at day one, with a new stage added every week until reaching 16 total.
- Three difficulty modes, ranging from casual spectacle mode with infinite lives to arcade-hard challenges for leaderboard hunters.
- A PC version packed with extras, including maximum graphics, force-feedback wheel compatibility, motion platform support, and even a non-VR mode optimized for Steam Deck and ultra-wide displays.
On Meta Quest, the game will roll out as an episodic experience:
- Episode 1 (Aug 21) with the first 8 levels.
- Episode 2 (October) with another 8 levels, both together offering the same final content as PC.
