Martin Rumenov FlatOut 4: Total Insanity is getting the ultimate upgrade. Set to arrive in Steam Early Access on April 23, 2026, FlatOut 4 VR brings the franchise’s trademark chaotic racing into virtual reality for the first time—complete with cockpit immersion, full six-degree movement support, multiplayer, and classic stunt modes.
The project is the first official release from Flat2VR Spark, a new initiative by Flat2VR Studios dedicated to turning community-driven VR conversion projects into full-fledged commercial titles. Announced during this week’s VR Games Showcase, FlatOut 4 VR promises to transform every high-speed collision into a seat-shaking experience from behind the wheel.
Built from the base of FlatOut 4: Total Insanity, this VR edition completely reimagines the perspective. Players will no longer witness the carnage from the sidelines—they’ll live it firsthand, surrounded by crumpling metal, debris, and rival racers. From traditional race events and destruction arenas to the fan-favorite stunt mode, every aspect of the original game has been refitted for full VR immersion.
To make the leap into virtual reality, the development team implemented 6DOF (six degrees of freedom) gameplay, created detailed cockpit interiors, and revamped the interface and controls for headset users. Thanks to DLSS integration, players can expect sharper visuals and smoother performance inside the headset.
