Release Details and Platforms
Squirrel Bytes has announced that its VR action-platformer Hyperstacks will officially launch on July 30, 2026. The game will arrive on Steam VR while also leaving early access on Meta platforms. A demo is currently available on Steam, giving players an early look at what to expect from the full release.
After eight years in development, Hyperstacks marks the debut title from the indie studio, aiming to deliver a blend of action, traversal, and puzzle-solving in virtual reality.
A Three-Pillar Gameplay Design
The gameplay experience in Hyperstacks is built around three core elements: combat, parkour, and logic-based puzzles.
Combat features a mix of melee and ranged encounters, requiring quick reflexes and strategic use of the environment. Parkour mechanics allow players to move dynamically through levels using tools such as grappling hooks, ziplines, and teleporters. The logic system, powered by the in-game Greenlink feature, enables interactive puzzles and complex level behaviors that challenge players to think creatively.

Campaign and Community Content
Players can explore a series of handcrafted campaign levels alongside a growing collection of user-generated content. The game includes character-driven quests and a variety of in-game personalities, adding narrative context to the action.
This dual structure ensures a balance between curated experiences and constantly evolving community challenges.
Full Level Editor for Players
A standout feature of Hyperstacks is its in-game level editor. The same tools used by the developers are available to players, allowing them to build their own levels with enemies, traps, puzzles, and movement mechanics.
These creations can be shared with the wider community, forming an expanding library of custom content that keeps the gameplay fresh over time.

A Promising VR Debut
As Squirrel Bytes’ first project, Hyperstacks represents a significant step for the studio. With its mix of action, creativity, and player-driven content, the game aims to establish itself as a notable entry in the VR space when it launches later this month.
