Realcast has released Just Hoops 2.0, a major update to its VR and mixed-reality basketball game on Meta Quest. The update centers on improved hand tracking, giving players the option to physically grab and throw a virtual ball or use a simpler gesture-based shot.
Two ways to shoot
The new Natural Shot mode lets players reach for a ball and throw it toward the hoop using their hands. Optional grab and aim assists can make shooting easier, while players who use fewer assists can earn more points—up to eight per basket.
Pointer Shot offers a more relaxed alternative. Players aim with a hand gesture rather than making a full throwing motion, and each successful shot earns two points. The mode is designed to work well for casual sessions and seated play. Controller support remains available alongside hand tracking.

Multiplayer, Trickshots and Zen Mode
Just Hoops 2.0 adds online 1v1 matchmaking and private rooms for two to four players. In the mixed-reality Trickshots mode, players can position hoops and obstacles around their real room, create shots and challenge others to recreate them.
For players who would rather skip the competition, Zen Mode removes the timer. It offers a way to practice, explore levels or shoot at an unhurried pace. The game can also be played standing or seated, including from a couch, chair or the floor.

Progression and other changes
The update introduces a more structured progression system: levels unlock in sequence, and completing them opens new series and challenges. Across more than 60 levels, players will also find revised level layouts, refreshed leaderboards, updated tutorials and menus, and a new 1970s-inspired environment.
New ball skins include designs based on bowling, football, golf, the moon, tennis and an eight ball. Realcast has also added more balls per coin-op and reduced the game’s installation size.

Price and availability
Just Hoops 2.0 launched on September 24, 2026, and is free for existing owners. The game is listed at $12.99, €11.99 or £9.99 on the Meta Horizon Store.
Realcast has also introduced the $13.99 Just Hoops Collection bundle, pairing the full-size game with Just Hoops Nano, a miniature mixed-reality tabletop version intended for seated play. The studio lists both titles among its games.
