Martin Rumenov The prehistoric VR adventure Neolithic Dawn is taking survival to the next level. Following the successful release of version 1.0 on Meta Quest in December 2025, developer Neolithic has rolled out a massive new update centered around a brand-new Survival Mode.
A New Era Begins: Neolithic Dawn Officially Launches on Meta Quest
Designed as a sandbox-style experience, Survival Mode drops players into the harsh world of 10,000 BC North America with a single mission—stay alive. This open-ended gameplay lets players create custom survival sessions without rigid objectives, giving them the freedom to explore and endure however they choose. Players can now also jump in and out of ongoing sessions seamlessly, removing the need for room codes and making cooperative play more accessible than ever.
The development team has also teased future improvements, including base-building mechanics, which will allow players to construct and customize their own homesteads anywhere in the wilderness. Meanwhile, the game’s original storyline has been renamed Story Mode, now featuring a unified save system for co-op and solo play—enabling players to switch between single-player exploration and multiplayer adventures with ease.
Neolithic Dawn’s “Baby” Update Introduces Player-Centric Evolution and New Recording Tools
“Survival Mode was born from player feedback,” said James Belian, founder of Neolithic LLC. “Our community’s passion drives us to keep expanding the world of Neolithic Dawn in meaningful ways.”
To celebrate Valentine’s Day, the update also introduces the “Lovestruck” cosmetic pack, letting players express some prehistoric romance with a heart-tipped arrow hat and pastel pink hair color.
