Neon-soaked VR debut
Coffee Moth Games has launched Neon Overdrive on Steam VR, inviting players into an 80s-inspired, retro-futuristic battleground filled with chrome, neon, and hostile Exo Bots. The game currently supports Meta Quest headsets via Steam VR, with a native release on the Meta store coming soon and a launch discount available for a limited time.
80s sci-fi and arcade roots
Neon Overdrive draws heavily from classic sci-fi films and arcade culture of the 1980s, channelling influences from iconic cyborg action flicks and tongue-in-cheek depictions of megacorporations. Coffee Moth Games layers in satirical references and hidden easter eggs throughout its neon-drenched arenas, giving long-time genre fans plenty of nostalgic nods to uncover between firefights.
Roguelike systems and buildcraft

At its core, Neon Overdrive is a fast-paced, procedurally generated roguelike VR shooter, built around replayability and experimental builds. Players can unlock seven distinct character classes, combine more than 40 stackable perks, and push their creations through escalating Overdrive difficulty, with tougher enemies, upgraded abilities, boss encounters, and cosmetic and challenge unlocks earned through play.
Synthwave-fuelled firefights
The action is backed by a punchy soundtrack that mixes licensed tracks from Jeremiah Kane’s album All or Nothing with original music created by the developers. This blend of roaring synths, guitars, and arcade energy is built to keep players locked into the rhythm of combat as lasers, missiles, and sparks fill the air.

Free demo and community
A free demo is available on Steam, giving new players a chance to test their reflexes and builds before committing to the full roguelike campaign. Coffee Moth Games encourages VR fans to join the community on social platforms, share feedback, and gear up for future updates as Neon Overdrive continues to evolve on Steam VR and eventually on the Meta store.
