Legendary Chaos Gets a Full Modern Remake
More than 20 years after its infamous debut, POSTAL 2 is set for a disruptive comeback with both a full remake—POSTAL 2 Redux—and a dedicated VR conversion, thanks to a newly-launched Kickstarter backed by Running With Scissors, Team Beef, Flat2VR Studios, and Impact Inked.
Kickstarter Campaign Ignites Development for Redux and VR Twin Projects
The Redux project isn’t just a superficial remaster or platform port; it’s a total overhaul built on a new engine with modern hardware in mind. Both POSTAL 2 Redux and POSTAL 2 VR are being developed side by side. Every Kickstarter stretch goal—including new content, multiplayer features, and sandbox enhancements—will boost both experiences equally. The campaign, which is live until mid-September, already boasts exclusive in-game rewards and limited early-bird pricing for backers.
Built from Fan Demand and VR Ambitions

Work on Redux began after relentless community requests for a virtual reality edition. As Team Beef’s Grant Bagwell explains, \“This all started with POSTAL 2 VR. We had no idea how big the interest would be. Eventually we thought: screw it, let’s remake the whole game.\”
Technological Leap: Physics, AI, and All the Mayhem
Redux is a full remake: no loading screens, modern assets, reworked environments, dynamic lighting, physics-driven gameplay, and smarter AI. New features—like updated traversal and inventory systems, fully reworked combat and weapon mechanics, and expanded destructible environments—will join iconic moments and weapons that originally made POSTAL 2 notorious. The intent is to preserve the chaotic and offbeat soul of the 2003 classic while turning up the interactivity and irreverence. As Flat2VR Studios’ Eric Masher put it, \“Nothing is getting cleaned up. It’s just getting louder, grimier, and way more interactive.\”
Dual-Wield Chainsaws, Pet Dogs, and Flip Off NPCs — Twice Over
Both versions promise all the original’s outrageous content, now with expanded VR mechanics: manual weapon control, physically-driven melee combat, player gestures affecting NPC reactions, and a VR-tailored inventory system. Even cherished gags—like wielding cats as silencer attachments—are being recreated for virtual reality. A now-confirmed feature: players will finally be able to pet the dog in-game.
Multi-Platform Releases and Stretch Goals
POSTAL 2 Redux is targeting PC (Steam), macOS, Linux, PlayStation 5, with possible Xbox Series and Switch releases included as stretch goals. The VR edition is slated for Meta Quest, PlayStation VR2, and Steam VR. The campaign’s top stretch goals tease major additions such as a potential sequel to POSTAL 2 and deep modding support for console versions.
A Crowdfunded Return to Paradise

With the Kickstarter now live, every backer directly amplifies both Redux and VR versions, making each step towards stretch goals a meaningful upgrade for longtime fans and newcomers. For many, this marks a chance to finally \“sign a petition with your middle finger, urinate freely in full roomscale, or pet the damn dog\” after twenty years of waiting.

About Running With Scissors
Founded in 1996 in Tucson, Arizona, Running With Scissors is the fiercely independent studio behind the POSTAL series—infamous for its satirical humor, unapologetic violence, and free-speech stance. Over the decades, the studio has endured bans, sparked cult fandom, and even inspired a controversial film adaptation, all while staying true to its mantra of “pure, politically incorrect entertainment.” The team continues to self-publish, engage with their community, and push the boundaries of outrageous game design.
About Team Beef
Team Beef is an indie development outfit specializing in bringing PC classics into native VR with full motion-control and room-scale support. Since 2019, co-founders Simon “Dr Beef” Brown, Grant “Baggy” Bagwell, and Mark “Bummser” Diekneite have built a loyal following by delivering high-performance VR ports to standalone headsets. Their motto—“if a classic can run, it can run in VR”—guides their work. In partnership with Flat2VR Studios, they’re now co-developing POSTAL 2 VR and Redux.
About Impact Inked
Impact Inked, the publishing arm of Impact Reality, focuses on bringing both original VR games and VR-native adaptations of existing IPs to market. The division provides the resources, structure, and expertise needed for teams to go from concept to polished release. For POSTAL 2 Redux and VR, Impact Inked is helping bridge the gap between creative chaos and production polish, ensuring the cult classic’s modern revival reaches its full potential.
