Martin Rumenov Italian indie studio Singular Perception has officially announced Sol Protocol, a new VR co-op action roguelike, during the UploadVR Showcase Winter 2025. The game is set to enter Early Access on Quest 3 and SteamVR in early 2026, with Alpha Test sign-ups opening immediately following the showcase.
Sol Protocol thrusts players into the heart of deep space, where teamwork and communication are vital for survival. Each player can take on different roles—pilot, engineer, or fighter—on a modular spaceship that can be physically managed and maintained in VR. From navigating treacherous stellar systems to battling procedurally generated enemies in real time, the game emphasizes strategic cooperation, improvisation, and shared decision-making.
Players will use VR interactions to grab controls, operate tools, and manage every system aboard their ship, including weapons, shields, and the galactic holomap. Every part of the ship is accessible, meaning systems can be damaged, repaired, and upgraded throughout each run. The experience is designed for 2-3 players online, with each role offering unique responsibilities and challenges.
While the focus is on VR, Singular Perception plans to potentially expand Sol Protocol to Steam for both VR and non-VR players, aiming to create a seamless cross-platform co-op experience. The official Alpha Test for Quest 3 begins December 5, and interested players are encouraged to join the Sol Protocol Discord for updates and access.
Sol Protocol marks Singular Perception’s second major VR project after their debut title Epyka, a puzzle adventure game praised for its immersive environments and intuitive gameplay. The studio continues its mission to deliver innovative VR experiences that push the boundaries of interactive storytelling and teamwork.
