Martin Rumenov Singular Perception, the Italian VR studio behind Epyka, has announced the open alpha test for its upcoming co-op space roguelike, Sol Protocol. The public playtest will run from March 27 to March 29 exclusively on Meta Quest 3 and 3S, giving players their first chance to experience the game ahead of its Early Access launch planned for April 2026.
Launching the Open Alpha
The open alpha focuses on the game’s foundational mechanics—crew coordination, ship management, scavenging derelict stations, and surviving attacks across procedurally generated space sectors. Teams of up to three players will navigate their ship, the PathFinder, through unpredictable deep-space encounters that demand quick thinking and cooperation.
To join the test, players must sign up through the official Sol Protocol Discord, where they can access the build and share gameplay feedback directly with the developers.
A Co-op Space Roguelike Built for VR
Sol Protocol blends the tactical spacefaring of FTL with the social teamwork of Star Trek: Bridge Crew, all within a fully immersive VR environment. Each of the three crew members takes on a role—pilot, gunner, or captain/engineer—working together to navigate hazardous star systems, repair damage, and upgrade their vessel.
Players can exit their ship at any time for zero-gravity exploration of abandoned outposts and derelict installations, scavenging valuable resources while fending off lurking dangers. Every mission offers procedurally generated challenges to ensure no two expeditions feel the same.
What’s Next
Sol Protocol will enter Early Access on Meta Quest in April 2026, with a PCVR version for Steam currently in development. Crossplay support and additional ship types for both smaller and larger crews are also planned for post-launch updates.
