ZipRush: Surf the Void Launches in Early Access on Meta Quest and SteamVR

Narriflux has released ZipRush: Surf the Void in Early Access, introducing a fast-paced VR extreme-sports experience built around gravity manipulation, freeform movement, and route discovery. The game is now available for Meta Quest for $9.99, while a Steam Early Access version is also live for PC VR players.

Set in the remains of a ruined world, ZipRush: Surf the Void challenges players to race through courses without relying on a single fixed path. Instead of simply following a traditional track, players can travel across walls, curved terrain, ceilings, gaps, and open areas as they search for quicker lines and more efficient ways to reach the finish.

A VR racing game without fixed routes

The main idea behind ZipRush is that every course can be approached differently. Players are encouraged to experiment with wall-riding, ceiling transitions, risky shortcuts, and momentum-based movement to improve their runs.

Rather than presenting one clearly defined racing line, the game leaves room for players to discover routes for themselves. A shortcut that appears impossible at first may become viable with the right use of speed, positioning, and traversal abilities.

Narriflux describes the game as a VR sport focused not only on racing speed, but also on movement technique and creativity. The most effective route can change as players uncover new ways to move through each environment.

ZipRush: Surf the Void gameplay and story

Movement is controlled by the player’s body

ZipRush: Surf the Void uses a physical control system designed to make speed management feel more hands-on. Players direct their movement by aiming a controller, while their hand position determines whether they accelerate or slow down.

Holding the hands farther from the chest increases speed, while pulling them inward reduces momentum and allows players to brake. This means each turn requires careful timing, especially when moving quickly across walls, corners, and elevated surfaces.

The system is intended to make every run feel more physical than a standard VR racing game. Players need to manage their momentum, react to mistakes, and quickly adjust their trajectory if they lose control or miss a route transition.

Thrust and Gravity Arc expand traversal options

Two core abilities give players additional control when navigating the game’s courses.

  • Thrust delivers a quick directional boost, allowing players to correct their course in mid-air, avoid hazards, regain a route, or make last-second adjustments.
  • Gravity Arc is a fixed-length tether that can pull players toward nearby surfaces. It can be used to recover after a mistake, redirect momentum, transition between walls and ceilings, or access alternate routes.

These abilities are central to the game’s route-discovery system. Players can use them to move beyond the expected path and create shortcuts that may save valuable seconds during competitive runs.

Narriflux founder Hsin-Chien Huang said the studio wanted to make a VR racing experience where players actively uncover the best routes rather than simply memorizing them.

“Most racing games ask players to master the fastest route,” Huang said. “ZipRush asks them to discover it. We wanted to create a VR extreme sport where movement, creativity, and physical technique matter as much as speed. Every new route the community finds expands what’s possible.”

ZipRush: Surf the Void multiplayer

Track creation and multiplayer competition

Alongside its official courses, ZipRush: Surf the Void includes a Track Builder that lets players design, test, publish, and share their own challenges. Custom tracks can range from fast, flowing routes to technical courses built around precision movement, difficult transitions, and creative use of the game’s traversal mechanics.

The game also supports multiplayer competition, leaderboard chasing, and ghost racing. Players can race against others, pursue faster leaderboard times, and study ghost runs to learn how top competitors approach individual courses.

As the community creates more tracks and finds new movement techniques, Narriflux expects the game’s competitive scene to evolve around player-driven strategies, rivalries, and route optimization.

ZipRush: Surf the Void features

  • Free movement across floors, curved surfaces, walls, ceilings, and open space.
  • Multiple possible racing routes across each course.
  • Momentum-based VR controls that use hand positioning for acceleration and braking.
